This piece is incredible in the way the gold interacts with red - popping up, swirling around, and overall showing off the depth that made me fall in love with this medium.
Even the bleakest of places, and the most simple color combinations can create stunning results. May we remember that in our own lives. There is no reason to push further than we have strength. We don’t need to detest ourselves because we “don’t naturally have blue” even if all our neighbors do.
Embrace your own gifts and talents, and do everything you can to grow and magnify those, whether or not they are anything like those around you.

This piece is one of color - much like what I’d find in a forest, but more reminiscent of what I find in a city that is working to mimic what was originally built by God.

As I watch the world around me, change -both good and bad - seems to come in waves.
Waves that remind me of Tsunamis….the tide comes out, everyone watches breathless for a moment, and then the pandemonium sets in. And just like a huge wave crashing back in without warning, buildings, people, and the entire culture is shifted as change sweeps in and moves all in its wake.
May we make the change in our lives change that builds and creates. And when the destruction does inevitably come, may we rebuild something more beautiful than what was there before.

This ball of light is Christ laying on a rock, as the powers of Darkness seep through him, during his atonement for our sins.
Above this small detail, The Destroyer, in the form of a great beast, pushes down on his body, and looks up in disdain as an angel descends from Heaven, to comfort Christ through his suffering.
Below Christ and The Destroyer, chains that bind the Olive Tree (and all of us) to Hell are beginning to break.
This piece brings together many beliefs I have about the sacrifice of Christ for me.
As I have studied scripture, and works of fiction that have alluded to the atonement, such as CS Lewis's work "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe", I have come to know my Savior as a being of great light and love. I know that he took on my debt, to allow Mercy to replace Justice.
I will be forever grateful.
